"House of Blues" 11/11/08 Attitude - 3 Eye Candy - 3 Price - 2

"Gospel Brunch + Purple Reign = Wonderful & Inexpensive Sunday"

The Gospel Brunch on sunday mornings is amazing. The live entertainment is great and the food buffet is all-you-can-eat and delicious; I'd say they have the best waffles in town. Also, the drinks (including bloody marys and mimosas) are free as well. There is no bad seat in the house. You are jammed in pretty tight but the people are very friendly.
Keep your ticket stub from the Gospel Brunch for free admission that night to Purple Reign (cover is only $2- or $3 otherwise). It is a great Prince tribute show that includes a tribute to Morris Day & The Time. The performers have the costumes and moves down perfectly, and even sound a lot like the real bands! They are so good that they have been invited to appear on the David Letterman show, which I think is high praise for any tribute band.
The club itself is beautifully decorated in a blues-y New Orleans rustic kinda way. A lot of arts and crafts with a voodoo feel covers the walls. The servers are very nice but not the fastest I've met. I felt I had to wait a long time to get my drinks and eventually started going up to the bar myself to speed up the process. Drink prices vary from average (perhaps even below average for Vegas) to quite pricey. The best drink is also the most expensive. It's called an "Audios Motherfucker" or "Audios" for short. It's the house special but, as there is no menu of drinks posted anywhere, you are going to have to know what your looking for and ask for it by name, or have a cute chatty waitress like we did who recommended it when we asked her if there was any house specials. The Audios rings in at a hefty $11, but it's worth it. We happily dropped a lot of cash that night and had a blast doing it.
