Might move to the Sahara

This show has closed at Planet Hollywood and is supposed to be moving to the Sahara.

A REVIEW from the Las Vegas Review-Journal

"The words that come to mind watching the cast of 15 bang and beat on household objects are: "multi-ethnic array of beefcake." The "music" is remarkable and the performers work as hard as anyone else in Las Vegas, yet they also seem to be having a whole lot of fun."

STOMP OUT LOUD, a new production from the creators of the international sensation STOMP, comes to Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with a 16-member company in a 1500-seat theater designed specifically to contain this production. STOMP OUT LOUD is directed and created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas.

A unique combination of percussion, movement, and visual comedy, STOMP has created its own inimitable form of musical entertainment. With STOMP OUT LOUD, the experience is transformed for Las Vegas with new choreography, a dynamically expanded cast and a completely new environment which will immerse the audience from the moment they enter the theatre.

With additional sequences created especially for the brand new Planet Hollywood Theatre, STOMP OUT LOUD is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday, and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and percussion.

“We are very excited to bring STOMP OUT LOUD to Las Vegas because it gives us the chance to do things with the show that we’ve always wanted to do,” says co-creator Steve McNicholas. “We think it’s an ideal match and look forward to showing audiences a side of STOMP that they’ve never seen before,” added co-creator Luke Cresswell.

“STOMP OUT LOUD brings an energy, wit and exuberance that makes it the perfect entertainment centerpiece for Planet Hollywood,” said Robert Earl, CEO of Planet Hollywood. “Whether you’ve seen STOMP before or not makes no difference. You’ve never seen anything like STOMP OUT LOUD.”

"Most Fulfilling Theater Experience"

A review from The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Anthony Del Valle, who writes a column called "Theater Chat"

"Although the reviews have been very favorable, I wasn't prepared for just how memorable "Stomp Out Loud" at Planet Hollywood Resort turned out to be. The little show that could has come a long way since its off-Broadway days of 1992.

This celebration of routine noise and visuals strikes me as a much richer, filled-out journey than its original version -- and not just because the cast size has doubled to 16. The sketches have a more pronounced dramatic arc. They build more expertly, with structure and surprise.

Yet, the dialogueless "story" remains about nothing more than a group of energetic young people finding music in the oddest of places. When I went home afterward and tended to chores, I found myself, gulp, enjoying the sounds of my vacuum cleaner and clothes washer. The show reminds you of the beauty of the everyday, and it's only right that we ordinary, struggling folk be grateful for that.

For me, "Stomp Out Loud" is the most fulfilling theater experience on the Strip."

"Very Cool!"

We bought our tickets several weeks in advance, and were able to score front row center seats. Brought the daughter along for this one.

Very creative ways to create music. Very "Rent"-like set, as you would expect. Plenty of dialogue-less humor along with some very catchy music. Our favorite part was when all of them had different lengths of rubber pipe, which each made their own note when struck on the stage. Between them, then made some very cool music with these pipes.

Ticket prices aren't bad, and it's very family friendly.
