"Gourmet Mexican Food?"
Prior to a "Concert on the Beach" (i.e. Mandalay's large wave pool with sound stage), we ate at Border Grill, a gourmet Mexican restaurant, which has patio dining that looks out over the Mandalay pool action. We had some very good Sangria and people were raving about the mojitos. It's an interesting concept, however, trying to turn a type of food which is not known as gourmet into a high-end offering. While our group generally had raves for the presentation, the sauces and the dishes overall, it's difficult to comprehend paying $28 for a chicken tamale when one generally eats a much larger portion at a traditional Mexican restaurant for less than $8.
However, I assume we were paying more for the fun and classy atmosphere, the proximity to the upcoming concert, the nice view and all the hotties running around so I won't complain too much.
