inside Red Rock

Grand opening is April 18th.

From Red Rock website: "Founded in 1969 and hailing from the Lone Star State, Salt Lick BBQ now makes its mark in Las Vegas as it kicks up tasty western classics like ribs, brisket, pulled pork and of course, its world-famous cobbler. A casual restaurant featuring Texas micro brews and bourbon to boot. Salt Lick always puts a little stagger in your swagger.

Open for lunch and dinner daily from 11am-10pm, weekends until 11pm."

"Gotta love BBQ!"

Now, we live out towards Red Rock, and it's our favorite haunt. And many, many moons ago, I went to the original Salt Lick BBQ outside of Austin during a business trip. (Located in a dry county, you bring your own cooler of beer in with you.) I have very fond memories of that night...

Flash forward to Vegas, at the beautiful Red Rock. Now I've aged since then, so the all you can eat approach doesn't jive with the "stay under 200 pounds" approach. Not a crowded place, tables are spaced out well. We had one bus person that we could never guess whether (s)he was a guy or a girl, but that just provided some challenging entertainment for us. (His/her name was Chris, so that didn't help.)

I highly recommend the sandwiches. The bread they use is incredible. And they will be so big that you will bring half of it home anyways. You won't leave this place hungry. Save room for desert, and get some of the cobbler. (God, I LOVE cobbler!)

Prices are a little bit higher than you would expect at a BBQ joint, but I would consider the quality of the restaurant and the food higher than a "joint". So it's worth it.
