"Misbehavior Encouraged"
On a lark, we ended up checking out the Tempo ultralounge. We walked into something that looked like it was out of an Austin Powers movie--everything in orange and black and brushed stainless steel. Very retro yet very modern--kind of surprising for the Hilton.
We knew we were in for a good time when the club manager came up to us and said "feel free to get as crazy as you want!" which was a refreshing change from many of the stuffy and conservative clubs on the Strip. We replied "we can get pretty crazy" and he said "that's what we want!". Pushing him further I said "but you might lose your gaming license!" and he said "when you cross that line we'll move you over to a more private area". With encouragement like that knew we had found a place we could relax and do whatever we felt like.
The waiters and bartenders were a pretty good looking and friendly bunch and were referred to as "bev-er-tainers" as they also broke out in the occasional dance routine either alone or as a group. The music was at a good level for both talking and dancing and the DJ was mixing some fun oldies in with some current dance hits. There's a center area near the bar that seems to be the unofficial dance floor and that's where most everyone gathered to shake it. This area was carpeted so several ladies had their shoes off and the soft landing came in handy as a couple of tipsy women kept falling over the more they dirty-danced with each other.
There were plenty of comfortable places to sit without having to buy a bottle and people seemed to be spontaneously dancing everywhere, often simulating bent over sexual positions in the process. It seemed almost like an off-premise swing club at times! While the crowd itself wasn't top tier like some of the trendy clubs (although there were a few exceptions), it was an incredibly fun atmosphere with a nearly "anything-goes" attitude.
Next time I think we'll bring our own group and see just how crazy they let us get...
