"A Classic Cirque du Soleil Show"
A review by a writer from BlogCritics.com
"I recently had the pleasure of seeing Mystère again after many years and it hasn’t lost any of its excitement or thrills. Mystère is a classic Cirque Du Soleil show that features a cast of outstanding athletes performing feats that challenge our imaginations and make us reexamine the mystery of what it means to be alive. The show is a thrilling mixture of athleticism, humor, wisdom, beautiful music and lights, and, well, mystery. The acts include Chinese Poles, Hand Balancing, Aerial High Bar, and Bungee. The cast includes 75 international artists and the show has been performed for 8.5 million spectators over more than 6000 performances.
Mystère contains two of my favorite Cirque acts of all time. First there is the hilarious baby whose antics delight us through the 90-minute performance. He (or she) becomes our alter-self as we experience through the eyes of a precocious child the dangers and wonders of living. When you watch a Cirque show you are often transported to a time of childhood. You can’t help feeling the profound joy of discovery.
The other act that almost defies description is, in my opinion, the best act I have seen in any Cirque show: a brother act called Hand To Hand. There are no trapezes, no bungee, no poles - just two guys doing feats of strength and balance using each other as sole support. They are the brothers Marco and Paulo Lorador from Portugal. They are not only physically beautiful, but their acts of strength, requiring enormous trust, stamina, and balance, are a powerful expression of the male bond between brothers..."

"My First Vegas Show"
I'd never heard of this type of show when I moved here. It was the first one on the strip and a birthday surprise. My date had gone several times before and had our seats in an area where we could view and experience the entire show.
All I could say was Wow and wish I could take a tour of the theatre. Missing my days in the theatre and wondering if my instructor had come upon this show.
A few years later, I saw my second Cirque in Maui.
Yes, there are now a lot on the strip, but they wouldn't be successful if they weren't absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
Again, I am floored by the talent and all that is put into creating a production of this caliber.
Worth the time and money. Keep in mind to call your ticket agent in advance, the shows do have dark periods.

"A visual show, quite stunning. But it's starting to show it's age..."
Did the trick I mentioned in my Zumanity review, and scored two tickets second row for a matinee for Mystere. Took my 14 year old daughter to the show.
I've seen several Cirque shows, including some shows from other troops. This one is about the most visually stimulating show, with bright colors, a huge cast, and lots of things going on at once. That's a huge positive on this show.
That being said, there was tons of dancing, which is not my cup of tea. And several scenes of simple clown activity, which was quite funny. (Side note: I got pulled into one of the bits, had a good time with it. Even did my best to add an additional laugh or two to it. For those of you that have seen the show, it got me and the clown "kicked out" of the theater.)
The two best parts, in my opinion: The four-pole routine (never seen so many ways to climb a pole), and the bungee/trampeze routine.
Now the aging part. The theater was only about 60% sold on a Sunday afternoon matinee, and several of the routines (strong man, etc.) are routines that you can see at just about any other troupe. Cirque du Soleil is supposed to be top-end, and a place where you see distinct routines. I'm not dissing the theater, or the performers or any of that, they are outstanding.
But, it looks like it's one of the biggest casts (meaning expensive), and I suspect they don't sell out very often. I wouldn't be surprised if you see this show shut down in the next year or so, and get possibly get replaced by another show.
