The Strip and North of Sahara

It's midway between the Strip and Downtown and the rooms are cheap. The Top of the World is a recommended restaurant (mostly for the amazing view) and they offer breath-taking rides for you thrill seekers.

"Stratosphere Las Vegas has it all! This great hotel casino with its world famous tower is a Las Vegas landmark. Stratosphere Hotel Las Vegas has great entertainment, dining, gaming and anything else you can imagine. The Stratosphere Las Vegas is on the north end of the Las Vegas strip and has thrill rides atop the largest tower west of the Mississippi."

A note on the Big Shot ride atop the Strat:
"The Big Shot at the Stratosphere gives riders the chance to experience weightlessness and pull 4 Gs at the same time.

The ride launches passengers at 45 mph, 160 feet into the air. That's in addition to being on the observation deck, 900 feet above the ground. It lasts for only one minute but it's a thrilling minute.

The attraction is open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tower admission is $7 for locals and $10.95 for others; the ride costs $9."

"Stratosphere is just OK"

The room was clean, but housekeeping staff was not so hot. Personal items from last guest were left in the room. We went out for a few minutes, and when we returned, items were gone. The 2nd day, we got extra towels, but no replacement shampoo or soap. No exhaust fan in bathroom, so it was steamy, and not in a good way. Bed was comfortable. Ice machine on the floor. We were on the 8th floor, where the pool is, which is convenient, but we had a lousy view out the window. I would consider staying again, but would request a pool view room or a strip view room.

"Mid July at the Stratosphere"

We had a great time at the Stratosphere. Parking was easy to get in and out. We booked as part of an MLT package, so the hotel was pretty cheap. Food was good everywhere we ate. The only problem we had was internet access. It wasn't there! Cox says that they are just bringing up the service in the hotel, but they can't tell you where it does and doesn't work. On the positive side, the management was very willing to credit the cost and appologized for the problem. Oh....and we thought it was stupid that the 25th floor topless pool is free for all women (hotel guest or not) but they charge $10 for male hotel guests and $20 for male non-hotel guests. They are already charging a $5/day "resort fee" to use the facilities....we thought it should be included in that.
