$7 Billion Dollars!
MGM Mirage has started construction on Project City Center, the largest privately funded construction project in the United States. It's an 18 million square-foot mixed-use urban village (casino, condos, hotels, shops, entertainment venues, etc.) located on the Strip between the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo. It'll have close to 5,000 rooms and will ultimately employ 12,000.

New Strip Club Opening
We've heard that Minxx, a 15,000 foot gentleman's club will be opening this summer, buying up one of the last cabaret licenses the County says they'll issue. It'll be located by the Orleans Hotel near the now semi-new Seamless gentleman's club. A reality TV show about the club is already underway.

Hard Rock Memorbilia Goes With the Hotel
With the sale of the Hard Rock Hotel to NY-based Morgans Hotel Group, what becomes of all the rock memorbilia? Looks like Morgans wants to maintain the continuity of the HR (yea!) and will grab the stuff. At least most of it. Not sure about the plaster cast of Jimi Hendrix's penis, though.
And did the HR alter one of Kurt Cobain's guitars? A bit of controversy...

To celebrate their new $40 million pool renovation, The Palms, who are calling their swimming hole "Pool at the Palms", are starting Ditch Fridays, in a nod to the Hard Rock's Sunday "Rehab" parties. Ditch Fridays kick off June 23rd.

The latest on the Cher/Celine scene at Caesars Palace: Celine's contract runs out this coming New Years--she wants off for a while to have another baby. Cher will take over a couple of nights per week, Bette Midler a couple of nights and there's an intriguing rumor they will do a show together a couple of nights.

Vivid Closed
Perhaps the space is jinxed, but not even the Vivid porn stars could keep Vivid night club at the Venetian open. There have been at least three different clubs in that location and the Venetian says there won't be any more. No word on what the space will be used for. Well, it was kind of a buzz kill to walk for miles through the shopping mall in your party clothes to get to and from the club...

Get High!
The Stratosphere has approached the City with plans to create a classy night club on top of the tower where the High Roller roller coaster used to be. The initial concept is for a 360 degree view of the city with glassed-in luxury boxes. We'll see if the Strat can go upscale.

It's Delirium for Another Cirque
Yet another Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas? Mon deu! This one is a touring two-night Cirque show called Delirium, featuring live musicians, singers and dancers performing to remixed "best of" Cirque songs in an arena setting. Look for it early September at the MGM.
